Springfield was settled in 1769 and incorporated in 1794.  It is home to the Gile State Forest.  Recreational opportunities include golfing, fishing, boating and snowmobiling.

 It was estimated that in 2008, Springfield New Hampshire was home to 1,139 residents.  Springfield is comprised of 43.2 square miles of land and 0.9 square miles of water.
